…Is that so? *Theodore is slowly calming down; it is comforting to know that he is not alone in his pain. His elder sister was always the best at comforting him* I see. I suppose I was being unfair in complaining. Margaret… she deserves comfort as well.

*he frowns* I do not recall hearing of the World’s death. Did something happen?

Ah, there is nothing wrong with complaining, Theodore. It is not wise to keep emotions contained. It often leads to worse situations doing so.

Ah, no, the World is still quite alive. However, his gaze is fixed on another. ‘Fool of Fortune’ is fitting for a reason. It was Fortune who managed to capture the Fool’s heart, not Margaret.

I see… *Theodore nods* That would explain why I saw her burning pieces of paper she’d written the number “10” on. Perhaps it is a form of the human act of “voodoo”? It seems a rather dangerous power to play with. But if she wishes to fight that badly, perhaps I should tell her about the tokoyaki of fame which is so good that it is rumoured to make one’s cheeks fall off.

I’ve tested this method, of course. The cheeks remain fully intact, but it would stall for time and keep her from making the bedrooms smelling odd.

[Igor just looked at Theodore for a few moments, somewhat stunned by the information that Margaret had taken up a form of voodoo. He had been previously unaware of such acts] …Was she now? Interesting. Perhaps it would be wise to distract her with that lead, Theodore. I would rather not have to start getting the smell of smoke out of everything.

Elizabeth tends to most guests, yes. [Igor nodded in response] Margaret has tended to a number of guests as well, however. Most recently she tended to the guest who would summon the power of the World. She grew rather attached to him, also. It seems lately the attendants of this Velvet Room have had issues with attachments towards our guests…

The boy of the World…? *Theodore blinks slowly, he remembers Margaret mentioning a boy a lot as of late. He knew she had taken on a guest recently since Elizabeth was busy and he’d yet to recover from the loss of Minako properly* She did mention that she’d taken on a guest recently. A boy with ‘moonlight hair,’ she said that he was ‘the Fool of Fortune.’

[Igor chuckles slightly in response] Yes, ‘the Fool of Fortune’ seems a rather fitting title for the boy. He was yet another most magnificent guest. Likely a worthy rival for the young Minako or her counterpart. I am not surprised Margaret became rather… Taken with him.

It is quite alright, Theodore. Emotions are peculiar things like that. Even we denizens of the Velvet Room are not immune to their pull. You need not apologise for having them. Margaret was not lying when she warned you of attachments. She knows of them as well, after all.

*This throws Theodore off. He looks up at Igor in wonder, continuing to dry his eyes. Margaret never mentioned that she attended to guests before; she always seemed to work as Igor’s personal assistant.*

Margaret said that Elizabeth took care of most of our guests… Did she perhaps have one before Lady Minako and the other young man came here?

I am quite certain that you won’t, my boy. [Igor nods in response as he watches Theodore]

No, no. Not at all. *he stands up, yen bag now in hand* I am ready to depart. If you’ll excuse me, Master Igor…

Of course, Theodore. Be on your way. I wish you luck in your mission.

It’s been busy here lately…

[Igor nods in response] Yes, I will permit the two of you to use the entrance. I will leave it to the two of you to acquire the appropriate “games of board” we will be needing.

R-Really? You will allow us to go? *Theodore’s eyes light up* That is wonderful! I will go an alert Elizabeth of our new mission immediately! We shall look for the best ones we are able to acquire. Trust in us, Master Igor!

[Igor chuckles slightly in response] Of course. I am quite certain that you two will carry out your mission perfectly.

Do not worry; we will not let you down!

*Theodore turns and begins shuffling through a small trunk in the corner of the Velvet Room, searching for a bag of Yen, they seem to keep them all over*

I am quite certain that you won’t, my boy. [Igor nods in response as he watches Theodore]

[Igor nodded slowly in response] Of course. It is her book. Although her contract was completed, it remains her book. She is currently unable to use it, so I can entrust you to watch over it, should she someday return.

[Igor slowly reached out and placed his hand on Theodore’s shoulder] Remember, Theodore, she is not truly gone. She is merely waiting. Holding back the Fall for now. Do not lose hope, fate may yet return her to you and the rest of the world.

*Looking up, Theodore’s features seem to relax and he nods, looking down at the book in his arms* I shall keep this safe as long as I am a resident of this room; she will always have powers to return to if I’m able to provide them.

Lady Minako… no matter when she is able to return, I shall ensure that she is safe. *he nods silently and rubs his eyes, his breathing having calmed down* …I’m sorry for acting so dramatically, Master Igor. Margaret warned me of gaining attachments to the world outside the Velvet Room, however, I didn’t believe that it would ever happen. I felt as if she were just being overly worried as she tends to be when it comes to Elizabeth and myself.

But the victory did make a difference, did it not? She was able to save everyone else and prevented the Fall. Fate could have chosen anyone, of course, but it deemed her worthy of the task instead. [He spoke pulling the handkerchief from his pocket and offering it to Theodore]

She was a most magnificent guest, she heeded fate’s call and we aided her to the best of our abilities, we could do little more. I realise she was very dear to you and it is painful now, I assure you though, time will slowly heal the wounds left behind.

…She saved the world and prevented the Fall, yes, but her chance to see the world she risked everything to save was ripped from her. That’s… that goes beyond the ideas of what is ‘unfair.’ It is cruel; it…

*He trails off, he doesn’t know what to say. The pain in his chest doesn’t seem to be subsiding and the tears won’t slow. He dabs his face with the handkerchief and slowly lowers himself to his knees, hugging the thick brown book in his arms like a lifeline*

Please… Master Igor, allow me to keep this. Her book; the powers she worked so hard to acquire. I wish to keep them safe; preserved. If she should somehow break free from the cage fate has trapped her in… I want to be able to assist her once more.

[Igor nodded slowly in response] Of course. It is her book. Although her contract was completed, it remains her book. She is currently unable to use it, so I can entrust you to watch over it, should she someday return.

[Igor remains silent for several seconds before speaking] Oh, very well, you’ve seen through me again, Theodore. It does get very tiresome waiting so long for a guest after all. I must occupy myself somehow.

…Master, perhaps you should take up some of the human pass-times? I hear that the “games of board” and cardgames are very good for entertaining one’s self alone or in a small group. *his eyes gleam* I believe there are some known as the “roleplaying games of board” in which one uses the imagination to complete tasks and become something completely extraordinary as they fight beats such as the dragons of myth and creatures that could even rival Personae in natural power…!

[Igor strokes his chin in thought at Theodore’s suggestion] Is that so? How interesting… I don’t believe I have heard of these “Games of board” before. They sound as if they may perhaps be entertaining. Perhaps warranting further investigation if nothing else, especially if these creatures of myth can even rival Personae…

*Theodore nods, looking eager* We must acquire one! If you allow Elizabeth and I to use the entrance at the mall, sure we would be able to acquire one; perhaps many! This “games of board” are common, if my understanding is correct. We could get many different ones. We would not be bored for a long time.

[Igor nods in response] Yes, I will permit the two of you to use the entrance. I will leave it to the two of you to acquire the appropriate “games of board” we will be needing.
